Blaze earn scholarships

It was a stellar season for the Langley Blaze both on the field and in the classroom.

The U18 baseball team, which was crowned provincial champions over the weekend at Nat Bailey Stadium, loses 18 players to graduation.

Remarkably, all 18 are off to the U.S. next month either on academic or athletic scholarship.

Included in that group are local ball players Luke Simpson, Zach Mihic, Brad Smith, Scott McCarthy, Aaron Dick, Jeremy Filipeck and Michael Krische.

Many of the players will be getting all or part of their schooling paid for and the scholarships range up to $128,000.
