After opening their four-game set with a victory, the Langley Blaze dropped three straight to the Okanagan Athletics over the weekend in Kelowna.
The Blaze beat the A’s 4-1 before losing 5-4 in extra innings, 6-1 and 8-5 to fall to 5-3 on the B.C. Premier Baseball League season.
Jake Polancic scattered six hits while striking out six over seven innings in the victory, allowing just one unearned run.
The offence was led by Jaron Jeske, who had a two-run double to key a four-run fifth inning. Daniel Berg and Travis Horanski drove in the other two runs.
Saturday’s second game saw Langley lose 5-4 in nine innings. The teams were tied at two after seven innings and after Okanagan scored three in the top of the ninth, the Blaze fired back with two runs but could not bring home the tying run from third base.
Jesse Unger had a solo home run and finished with a pair of RBIs.
Yi-Fan Pan and Quintin Nakamura had the other Langley RBIs.
Kyle Prather took the loss.
The Blaze bats went silent in the first game Sunday as they managed just five hits.
Two of those came of the bat of Austin Hardie, as well as the team’s lone RBI.
Nick Iverson struck out eight but allowed 10 hits and six earned runs in the loss.
And the weekend ended with an 8-5 loss for Langley, despite the Blaze being ahead 4-2 after two innings.
Nakamura led the offence with two RBIs while Pan and Jake Christensen had one apiece.
Prather was tagged with the loss after coming on in relief in the fourth inning.
Langley will look to get back on track when they visit the North Shore Twins on April 28 at Parkgate Park. They also host the Whalley Chiefs and Nanaimo Pirates this weekend in a pair of doubleheaders at McLeod Park.
