Blaze win in extra innings

Scott McCarthy scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Langley Blaze won their sixth straight game, 3-2 over the Fraser Valley Chiefs.

The U18 B.C. Premier Baseball League teams both scored twice in the sixth inning and needed extra innings to determine a winner on Thursday night at McLeod Park.

Greg Rodgers drove in the Langley runs with a two-run single, scoring Bill Germaine and Zach Mihic.

Justin Geerts picked up the win, providing three-plus innings of scoreless relief pitching.

Kyle Joel had allowed two runs, one earned, over five and two-thirds innings. He struck out nine and allowed four hits and two walks.

The win improves langley to 16-3 and they are in action on Sunday (May 22) for a doubleheader against the Coquitlam Reds(9-9) at Mundy Park.
