Brechin Lanes athletes win medals at provincials

Brechin Lanes bowlers medalled at the Youth Bowling Canada B.C. championships in Kamloops March 5.

Brechin Lanes bowlers carried on their strong tradition of success at provincials.

A handful of youths medalled at the Youth Bowling Canada B.C. championships in Kamloops March 5.

Mikayla Eby won gold in senior girls’ singles, while Tessa Portman claimed gold in bantam girls’ singles. Both will represent B.C. at national championships in Calgary in May.

Liam Knott took silver in junior boys’ singles and Brechin’s junior boys’ team earned bronze. Team members included Jesse Brittain, Jonas Brittain, Chevy Carlson and Andrew Rigg.

In other five-pin bowling news, Brechin Lanes hosted the Vancouver Island championships March 19-20 and many locals were crowned Island champs.

Morgan Theedom won the ladies’ singles title, with Duane Plested the men’s singles champ. Brechin also won the men’s and women’s team championships. The men’s team consisted of Plested, Duane Kravontka, Don Campbell, Devon Cowie, Todd Spracklin and Lindsay Haverstock. The women’s team consisted of Theedom, Deb Cowie, Darlene Parker, Shauna Williams, Kim Coulson and Linda Charbonneau.

Brechin Lanes also won the aggregate title.
