Owen Sillinger scored the winner while Anthony Brodeur made 38 saves in a 3-2 win for the Penticton Vees against the Wenatchee Wild.
The Toyota Town Center was packed with 3,969 fans as the Vees made their first visit to Wenatchee on a night honouring fire fighters.
Scott Conway got the Vees on the board early with his 44th of the season 1:08 into the game. The Chiefs created a couple of chances, but were denied by Brodeur.
The Vees went up 2-0 on Colton Poolman’s his fourth of the season at 4:10. Nearly three minutes later, Austin Chavez cut the lead in half for the Wild with Mike Coyne and Kyle Stephan picking up assists. With five minutes remaining in the period, Sillinger scored his 13th with a backhand shot. Wild goalie Chase Perry was pulled in favour of Garrett Nieto after making 12 saves on 15 shots. Nieto turned aside all 10 shots he faced.
Charlie Combs’ ninth of the year made it 3-2 in the third period.
With the win, Brodeur is now 24-0-1-0 and the Vees improve to 39-5-1-0.
In other BCHL action, Alberni Valley topped the Surrey Eages 5-2. The Chilliwack Chiefs and West Kelowna Warriors settled for a 3-3 finish. Victoria earned a 4-1 win over Salmon Arm at home, while the Nanaimo Clippers earned a 5-2 victory in Cowichan Valley. Vernon got past the Trail Smoke Eaters 3-2.
