The season will continue into next month for one Langley senior girls basketball team while it came to an end for another.
The Brookswood Bobcats are guaranteed a top-four finish at the AAA Fraser Valley championships and will play at the B.C. provincial championships March 6 to 9.
The ’Cats made sure of that with a pair of victories in the opening two rounds of the Fraser Valley championships. Brookswood, the top seed in the 16-team draw, defeated No. 16 North Surrey 93-34 on Monday and then beat No. 8 Yale 96-48 on Tuesday. Both games were at Brookswood.
With the wins, the Bobcats advance to the Fraser Valley semifinals tomorrow (Friday) against the No. 5 W.J. Mouat Hawks. The game will be played at the Langley Events Centre.
But the Walnut Grove Gators saw their season come to a close.
The Gators, seeded 11th, lost 82-72 to the No. 6 MEI Eagles on Monday and then facing a must-win game on Tuesday, dropped a 56-41 decision to the No. 14 Chilliwack Storm.
