Salmon Arm Bulldogs Boxing Club floated like butterflies and stung like bees in Vernon Saturday night.

The club took four boxers to Vernon and all four boxers won their matches. Bringing home wins from the Vernon CounterPunch Boxing Club’s amateur card were Noah Paterson, Meghan Fair, Bryan Adkins and Jason Weiss.

The three local coaches were head coach Peggy Maerz, Barry Adkins and Mickey Sims.

About 400 people attended the event.

“It was a great result – we will now be getting ready for the Golden Gloves hosted by Vernon this year on April 20 and 21,” said Sims of the Salmon Arm team. “It was very well-attended, it was a great time, well-run and well-organized by Counter Punch.”

Sims was recently voted in as president of Boxing BC, helping to raise the profile of Salmon Arm in the boxing world. Boxing BC Association is a non-profit society and the recognized body governing amateur boxing in B.C.
