Duncan had an invitational competition last week which included trials to Provincials.
The Level 2 athletes were trying to win a spot to go to the provincial championships as part of the Zone 6 team. Athletes from Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo, Port Alberni, Comox, Powell River and others were all there trying to earn spots.
In the Level one category (not yet trying for provincials), Claire Pollock had a nice floor routine finishing sixth adding a front salto for the first time. She finished eighth on beam, ninth on bars and 15th on vault. Pollock finished 10th in the All Around.
Next was Isabella Michaels who finished 16th on the bars, took 17th on floor and vault, and finished 18th on the beam. This landed her 18th in the All Around.
In the Tyro Level 1 division, Kamryn Brown took the silver medal on bars, won the bronze medal on beam, finished fifth on floor also adding a front salto for the first time. She finished eighth on the vault to come home with the bronze medal in the All Around.
Terah Van Dompseller had a nice beam to take fourth. She finished seventh on the floor and vault, and took ninth on bars to come home in fifth place in the All Around.
Jillian Frank had a gold medal performance on the bars, won the silver medal with a powerful vault, finished eighth on the beam and ninth on the floor to finish in seventh in the All Around.
In the Novice Level 1 division, Stephanie Sinclair won the gold medals on both beam and vault, and came home with the bronze medals on floor and bars becoming the All Around Champion.
Tyra Moore took the gold medals on floor and bars, finished in a tie on vault for the silver medal. She took the bronze on beam and finished with the silver medal in the All Around.
Rebecca Revoy captured three silver medals, one on vault (tie), beam and the floor. Revoy finished fourth on beam and came home with the bronze medal in the All Around.
Leah Anderson rounded out the group bringing home a silver medal on the bars, a bronze medal on the floor and a fourth place finish on the vault and beam. Anderson took fourth place in the All Around.
Next were the trials for the level 2 Argos. Chloe Doyon had big swings to take the gold on the bars. She took the bronze medal on the vault and finished in fifth on beam and sixth on the floor to capture the silver medal in the All Around.
Brooklyn Batch had a strong vault to take the gold. She won the silver on bars, finished seventh on beam and eighth on floor to finish fifth in the All Around.
Ksenia Stansell was the final competitor in this division who showed impressive tumbling lines to take the silver medal. She finished fifth on the bars and came home in eighth on the vault and beam. Stansell finished eighth Overall.
Brianna Pollock had a good competition with a solid beam routine to take the gold and nice tumbling to win the silver on the floor. She landed fifth on vault and eighth on bars on her way to becoming the All Around champion.
Jasmine Duguay swung a nice bar routine to win the gold, captured the bronze medal on the vault and took seventh on the beam and the floor exercise. Diguay finished in sixth in the All Around.
Caitlyn Johnson finished fifth on floor with a clean routine, finished sixth on the bars and beam, and came home in eighth on vault to finish in seventh in the All Around.
Aysha Guenther was the lone Level 2 Novice athlete. Guenther had a great competition taking the gold medal on the bars with big swings and a high floating dismount. She won the bronze medal on the vault, finished sixth on beam and eighth on floor where she added a round off back handspring back tuck for the first time in competition.
Guenther finished in fifth in the All Around.
