Hometown side shows better form than Uruguay in 33-17 win

Canada has drawn first blood in the Americas Rugby Championship.

The Canadian men’s 15s, playing on their home field at Westhills Stadium in Langford, opened up a 19-7 lead by halftime and rolled to a 33-17 victory over Uruguay on Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd estimated at about 1,800 fans.

Canada travels to Austin Teaxas to play the USA on Feb. 13 before returning home to host Brazil on Feb. 20 back at Westhills in round three of the tournament.
