Cascade men rocked on the road

The University of the Fraser Valley men's basketball team stumbled badly in games against Alberta and Saskatchewan.

The University of the Fraser Valley men’s basketball team is home this weekend, trying to bounce back from a disappointing Prairie road trip.

The Cascades took it on the chin in two losses.

Friday night, they fell 94-66 to the University of Alberta.

The Golden Bears (7-1) bombed UFV in the first quarter, opening up an 11 point lead.

The Cascades trailed 50-30 at halftime and never got much closer, despite having four of five starts hit double digits in scoring.

Jasper Moedt’s 12 points led the team. Kadeem Wills had 11 points, with Klaus Figueredo, Kevin Ford and Manjohd Dulay picking up 10 apiece.

Kevon Parchment’s 10 rebounds was tops on the team.

The Cascades fared no better in an 83-62 loss to the Saskatchewan Huskies Saturday. UFV was out-scored 54-30 in the second and third quarters.

In 31 minutes, Moedt led his squad with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Wills had 13 points and Figueredo had 11, along with four steals.

Two Huskies, Ben Baker and Stephon Lamar, topped the 20 point mark.

The Cascades (3-4) have the UBC Thunderbirds (4-4) in town for Friday and Saturday matchups at the Envision Athletic Centre in Abbotsford.
