Carley Radomski of the University of the Fraser Valley women’s soccer team has been named the Canada West first star of the week, in honour of her playoff exploits vs. the Victoria Vikes over the weekend.

The second-year midfielder — a Walnut Grove graduate in 2013 — sparked the Cascades to a 3-0 upset victory on the road over the CIS No. 5-ranked Vikes in the conference quarter-finals.

Radomski scored in the 37th and 57th minutes, both times picking the bottom corner on strikes from the top of the box.

Cascades head coach Rob Giesbrecht termed Radomski’s performance “outstanding.”

“We put her in more of an attacking role,” he said. “(Fellow midfielders) Avneet Bhullar and Kara Delwo did a great job defensively and allowed Radomski to spend more energy in the attack, and she had two great finishes.”

Radomski and the Cascades, currently ranked No. 10 in the nation, are chasing a conference title this week at the Canada West Final Four, hosted by Trinity Western University.
