Cascades women’s hoopsters tighten grip on top spot in national rankings

The UFV women's basketball team garnered 33 of 39 first-place votes in the latest CIS poll released Tuesday.

The University of the Fraser Valley women’s basketball team has solidified its grip on top spot in the national rankings.

In the latest edition of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) poll released Tuesday, the Cascades (11-1) claimed 33 of 39 first-place votes in the wake of home victories over the Saskatchewan Huskies and Alberta Pandas on the weekend. UFV had 17 first-place votes last week when they made their debut at No. 1.

The Cascades men’s hoopsters (7-5), coming off a pair of weekend losses to Saskatchewan and Alberta, fell from No. 4 to No. 7 in the national poll.
