Chiefs involved with new golf tournament

The Chilliwack Chiefs are lending celebrity support to a new golf tournament supporting the Salvation Army Food Back program.

The Chilliwack Chiefs and the Salvation Army have joined forces, creating a new golf tournament that will take place Sept. 27 at the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club.

The full Chilliwack Chiefs team, including head coach/general manager Harvey Smyl, will be spread out throughout the 18 holes.

There will be four hole-in-one prizes and a special prize for closest to the pin on the ninth hole.

The tournament will be played in Texas Scramble format with a 1:30 p.m. start time.

Proceeds will go towards the lease of a new three-ton reefer truck desperately needed to service the Upper Valley Salvation Army Food Bank program.
