Chilliwack’s midget AAA baseball Cougars hit the road last weekend for their annual Interior double-double trip.
Chilliwack played the Kamloops River Dogs Saturday, splitting a pair of games.
The Cougars coughed up six first inning runs in the morning match. A late rally made the final score more respectable at 7-4.
Shortstop Mike Rogers punched out three hits, including a double and a triple. Cody Hartle drove in a pair of runs. Cohen Bogart added a double and Derek Reidiger and Blake Peeling added singles.
Chilliwack exacted revenge in the rematch, riding the bats to a 13-8 win.
The Cougars scored six in the third inning and had 18 hits overall. Outfielder Ryan Petkau went three for five. Cam Longfellow legged out a triple and Payton Nerbas clubbed a double.
Reidiger started on the mound, allowing four hits and two runs over three and two-third innings, while striking out two.
Chilliwack’s second double header had them in Penticton Sunday, facing the South Okanagan Tigers.
Mike Rogers threw a complete game two hitter in the opener as the Cougars took a 5-1 final.
Rogers chipped in offensively as well, going two for three at the plate. Reidiger, Keegan Mclean and Evan Kellington all had doubles.
Chilliwack finished the weekend with an 11-3 win.
Starter Peeling allowed three runs in five innings before handing the ball to Matt Lamb, who was spotless in relief.
Mclean had the big hit with a two run homerun.
