13 year old Chilliwack native Austin Atkins competes in C1 (one person canoe, single blade paddle) racing for the first time at last weekend's Icebreaker race on the Hope Slough.

Chilliwack sweep at Icebreaker races

The second leg of the Icebreaker Kayak Series was held last weekend on the Hope Slough, with Sunday's third leg snowed out.

The second of three Icebreaker Kayak Series races was held last weekend on the Hope Slough, hosted by the Chilliwack Centre of Excellence.

Chilliwackians took first place in all four races.

Isabel Taylor won the women’s cadet K1 (one-person kayak) race, with Finley Capstick winning the men’s event.

Maddison Atkins won the women’s junior K1 event with Rhys Taylor winning on the men’s side.

The third race will run April 6 at 1 p.m.  at Abbotsford’s Highway Gates.
