Clapp warming up as PGA Tour draws near

Chilliwack's Brad Clapp heads back out on the PGA Tour Canada later this month, and is tuning up his game.

Chilliwack’s Brad Clapp tied for third overall in the pro division at last week’s Pitt Meadows Open. Part of the Vancouver Golf Tour Summer 2015 schedule, the one-round tourney was played May 4 at the Pitt Meadows Golf Club.

Clapp ripped through the course with a three-under-par 69 that included birdies on the first, fourth, seventh, 14th and 18th holes. That last birdie was a difference maker, nudging Clapp ahead of rivals Bryn Parry, Sean Harlingten and Cory Renfrew.

Clapp finished four shots off the scorching pace set by Kevin Stinson.

The Hazelmere Golf Club rep picked up $850 and 1500 Order of Merit points with a seven-under-par 65 that included an eagle on the 10th.

Chilliwack’s Curtis Baldwin finished eighth on the pro side with a one-under-par 71.

Jared Rempel was 21st with a four-over-par 76.

On the amateur side, Kaleb Fisher’s five-over-par 77 left him in a tie for eighth, nine behind Ryan Lloyd (Pitt Meadows).
