Sarah Cornett-Ching, a race driver from Summerland, will not compete in the ARCA finale at the Kansas Speedway later this month.

On Sept. 22, Cornett-Ching, 25, had an accident at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky, when she hit the inside wall and suffered concussion-like symptoms.

While she was able to walk away from that crash, she chose to sit out the next races.

Following the accident, Cornett-Ching said on her Facebook page that she was recovering from the injury.

“I am on a restricted use of many items. I mostly sit in a dark room. Almost anything makes my headache get worse,” she said.

While she is not able to compete in Kansas, she hopes to come back to competition in November.
