The Alberni Valley Bulldogs picked up defenceman Michael Winnitoy from the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League for future considerations just under the B.C. Hockey League trading deadline on Jan. 10.
Winnitoy will bring much-needed experience to the Bulldogs’ blueline, head coach and general manager Kevin Willison said.
This season the 6-foot-3 defenceman has spent time with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and the Grande Prairie Storm prior to being picked up by the Pistons.
He is a product of the Calgary Royals Minor Hockey Association.
The Port Alberni Junior Hockey Society is preparing for a fundraising dinner and celebrity auction on Friday, Feb. 12 at the Best Western Barclay Plus Hotel.
Tickets are $75 each (a table for eight is $600).
