Trinity Western’s Declan White took top spot in the 1500m race at the Harry Jerome Classic at Swangard Stadium on Monday.
White ran away from the field on the final lap and cruised in for a first-place finish in a time of 3:50.23.
Nick Ayin also won bronze for the Spartans in the 200m event with a time of 22.18.
TWU graduate Fiona Benson finished second in the 800m in a time of 2:01.48.
Benson is in contention to represent Canada at the Pan Am Games.
And Spartans’ Regan Yee was third in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 10:06.14.
Members of the Spartans were also competing last week (June 5) at the Western Canada Outdoor Meet at McLeod Athletic Park.
Sarah Inglis (4:16.58) was tops in the 1500m while Anastasia Pearse (56.12) was first in the 400m on the women’s side. Also in the 400m, Rachel Shuttleworth (58.93) took bronze.
And for the men, Nathan George (46.86) won gold in the 400m and Nathan Dunford (4.70m) also took tops in the pole vault.
Declan White (3:48.12) won gold in the 1500m while Andrew Degroot (49.12) joined him on the podium with a bronze.
