Nanaimo alpine skier Liam Gilchrist had a down-and-up weekend. First he went down the mountain. Then he climbed up the podium.
The Mt. Washington Ski Club athlete won gold and a silver in his slalom events at the B.C. Alpine Ski Association’s coast zone finals at Mt. Washington on Saturday and Sunday. Nanaimo’s Luke Hoefer finished sixth in Sunday’s slalom.
“What an end to a fantastic ski season for all of the club athletes,” said Maureen Clarke, one of the club’s directors, in a press release.
