Harlem Dreams player Harold (Lefty) Williams will lead his team against Nanaimo’s West Coast Express in an exhibition basketball game Oct. 25 at Vancouver Island University.

The Harlem Dreams will use every trick in the book to try to win a basketball game in Nanaimo this month.

The American touring team visits the Vancouver Island University gym on Oct. 25 to face Nanaimo’s West Coast Express.

“[Fans] will see lots of slam dunks, tricks, things that you would see in a Harlem Globetrotters game,” said Sean Dupuis, event organizer. “It’s a game, but more of a show.”

The Dreams are led by Harold (Lefty) Williams, a former Harlem Globetrotters player, while the Express squad will be coached by Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay.

“It’s an audience interactive show, so they may end up participating in the event…” Dupuis said. “It’s pretty amazing when you’re there and because of the seating arrangement, you’re real close to the floor.”

Tipoff time is 5 p.m. Tickets will be $15 at the door, or $13 in advance at Kirby’s Source for Sports and Montana’s Cookhouse.
