Eagles bronzed at host tourney

The Langley Eagles captured the bronze medal at the Gil Martin Memorial peewee AAA hockey tournament.

The Eagles went 5-1 with their lone blemish being a 3-1 loss in the semifinals to eventual gold medalist Kelowna.

Langley put that loss behind them to defeat Ridge Meadows 5-3 in the championship game on Nov.12.

The tournament was held at the Walnut Grove Sportsplex.

The Eagles used some sparkling defence, allowing just eight goals over the five games.

Langley won their pool after defeating South Delta 5-1 and then posting back-to-back shutouts, 6-0 over Abbotsford and 1-0 over the T-Birds.

In the quarter-finals, they beat Juan De Fuca 5-1.

The team is made up of: Ryleigh Anderson, Brendan Bone, Connor Bruggen-Cate, Brendan Budy, Alec Capstick, Matthew Dyck, Logan Hunter, David Laurin, James Malm, Bobby Russell, Tyler Starinieri, Jonathan Stein, Dash Thompson, Jarret Tyszka, Luke Zazula, Braedon Fleming and Jordan Hollett.
