The 6th Annual Family Fishing Derby hosted by the North Thompson Fish and Game Society (NTF&G) held on Father’s Day, June 21, brought out 88 anglers, plus 23 youth under 15 years of age. Results of the event are:
• Hidden Weight of 10 lb. 3 ozs, – Harold Bittner with a char coming in at 7 lbs. 3 ozs.
• Largest Rainbow Trout – Frank Holt – at 5 lbs. 4 ozs.
• Largest Non-Rainbow – Ashley Burslem – a brook trout at 1 lb. 7 ozs.
• Most Fish Caught by a Family – the Holt Family, made up of five family members each bringing in their quota of five rainbow trout each, for a total overall weight of 54 lbs.
• Largest Women’s Catch – Brenda Vernon – with 2 lb. 14 oz. rainbow trout.
• Oldest Participant – Art Turner – 91 years young
• Youngest Participant – ‘Max’ from Summerland – age three but stated “I’m almost four”. Max also sang a song on stage (not once, but twice) to the entertainment of all.
