The appeal?

It’s a neat composite of other sports, it’s fast, it’s easy to learn, and it’s cool. Parents are discovering that field lacrosse is more exciting than soccer, cheaper than ice hockey and not as dangerous as football. The game is getting a closer look. Another great benefit to playing field lacrosse is the massive opportunity for Canadian kids to get scholarships to play at universities in the United States. Right now there are over 25 kids from B.C. playing at U.S. universities.

North Island Field Lacrosse is accepting registrations up to August 29. August 17 at Willow Point Sportsplex 6:30-8 p.m. and Courtenay Sports Centre August 20 from 10:30 a.m.-12p.m. We are hosting an ‘Intro to Field’ on Sunday August 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Lewis Park in Courtenay. Come out and enjoy a BBQ with some skills and drills. North Island’s boundaries are Sayward to Bowser and have divisions from 6-19 years old.  Our season runs from September to February.

Our AGM is this Thursday at Salmon Point Pub at 6:30 p.m. For more information contact Marnie Evans: evandale@telus.net
