The Chilliwack Lunachicks returned from a two week break to host the Meraloma A’s in women’s soccer action Sunday, losing for the first time this season.
Chilliwack held a territorial edge in the first half, but the Merolamas scored two breakaway goals, at the six and 10 minute marks, to take an early lead.
Janelle Cavanagh closed the gap at the 20 minute mark when her corner kick came back to her and she drilled a long shot over the outstretched arms of the Meraloma keeper.
The Meralomas scored again seven minutes into the second half.
Chilliwack’s offence created many scoring chances, but lacked finish. Lunachick keeper Kelly Joiner stopped a penalty shot to give her team a chance, however the Meralomas scored in the final minute to win 4-1.
