Fraser Valley off to nationals

Preston GM Langley FC U14 boys soccer team clinches spot in national championships this October in New Brunswick

Jehmrode Kahlon’s goal early in the second half and a huge penalty kick save from goalkeeper Nolan Premack proved to be the differences, earning a local U14 soccer team a trip to New Brunswick this fall.

Tommy Millar’s corner kick found the foot of Kahlon, who calmly dribbled by one defender and slotted the ball into the net from 10 yards out.

That would be the only goal as Fraser Valley Premier defeated Mountain United FC 1-0 in the B.C. Soccer Premier League’s U14 championship final.

The game was played June 25 in Kelowna.

And the Preston GM Langley FC team was forced to play the final 10 minutes down a man after a red card in the penalty area, but Premack saved the ensuing penalty kick to keep the lead.

Mountain had one more chance to tie but were denied by a last-minute goal-line clearance by Brandon Cambridge.

The team will represent B.C. at the national club championships in Moncton from Oct. 5 to 10.

The team is made up of: NolanPremack, Karmveer Rai, Marley Edwards, Sevak Lehal, Isaac Janzen, Jeevan Sidhu, Brandon Cambridge, Tommy Millar, Jehmrode Kahlon, Cadell Rees, Joel Ward, Max Barker, Jaskirat Sidhu, Jasdeep Khakh and Devon Chescoe.
