Fraser Valley U14 strikes for gold in Las Vegas

Girls soccer team does not concede single goal over five games

A local youth soccer team won the jackpot in Las Vegas.

The Fraser Valley Selects U14 girls soccer team — which is comprised of players from Langley, Abbotsford and Chilliwack — travelled to Vegas earlier this month and returned with the gold medal from the Las Vegas Mayors Cup International Challenge.

Even more impressive was the fact the team did not concede a single goal over their five games.

Fraser Valley went 2-0-2 in the round robin, beating Colorado 5-0 and Edmonton 1-0 while playing to a pair of scoreless draws against Las Vegas and Montana.

And they played Montana in the final as well, winning 1-0.

The Langley players on the team are Ella Rogers, Kailey Rankin, Chantel DeLange, Morgan Astles and Kaylun Macleod
