Walnut Grove junior girls, Brookswood senior girls both playing in provincial final fours

Two Langley girls basketball teams are both in the running for their respective provincial championships.

The Walnut Grove Gators — the second seed — needed a rally to defeat No. 7 South Kamloops in the quarter-final, overcoming the deficit to win 63-56 on Thursday at the Langley Events Centre.

The Gators had cruised to a 71-16 opening round win over Nechako Valley.

The win set up a semifinal showdown with No. 3 Kelowna on Friday (March 4) at 5 p.m.

And in the B.C. 3A senior girls tournament, the top-seed Brookswood Bobcats — who are also the two-time defending champions — have crushed their first two opponents of the championships at the LEC.

Brookswood beat North Peace 110-20 on Wednesday and hammered Claremont 76-28 in the quarter-finals.

The Bobcats face No. 5 Oak Bay on Friday (March 4) at 6 p.m.
