The Abbotsford Rugby Club is hosting the 37th annual Gobbler Rugbyfest this weekend (Oct. 11-12) at Abbotsford Exhibition Park, bringing teams from across B.C. and the U.S. together in a fun-filled weekend of rugby, dancing, and country music. The tournament will start Saturday morning at 10 a.m. and continue through Sunday to a championship game at 2 p.m.
The tournament is a fundraiser for the local rugby club, which runs programs and teams for players of all ages from kindergartners in the “Mini Rugby” program to seniors on the “Old Boys” squad. Fourteen teams have registered for the weekend, and will be competing for a first-place cash prize of $800 on the men’s side and $500 on the women’s.
Admission is free both to games and to the Gobbler Dance (featuring the Chris Buck Band) on Saturday starting at 8 p.m at the Agrifair Arena.
