Gold medal win for local Special Olympian

Mary Sol won a gold medal in Bocci at the provincial tournament in Langley.

Mary Sol, local Special Olympics athlete returned  home from Langley this past weekend sporting a gold medal. Sol was asked to sub in for the Penticton 2 Team competing in the Bocci Tournament at Provincials. Mary joined Special Olympic athletes; Kevin, Ida and Arielle and together they brought home gold. The athletes travelled to Langley on Thursday, participated in the provincial tournament and returned home on Sunday. “It was just a fraction of an inch and we’d have gotten Silver, said Sol, “ It was a very close game, but we got the Gold.” Sol said they had a blast over the weekend and that, “much fun was had by all.” Congratulations Mary, to you and your team mates!
