Chilliwack’s Spartans Swim Club attended the Richmond Fastswim Swim Meet Dec. 2-4. The meet was host to 350 athletes, including 11 locals.
Jessie Gibson competed in the 13-year-old girls division, finishing with five gold medals. Gibson cleaned up in the 200 metre individual medley, 200m backstroke and 50, 100 and 200m flies. She added silver in the 800m freestyle. Sydney Torok competed in the 14-year-old girls age group, splashing her way to seventh in the 800m freestyle and eighth in the 400m freestyle.
In the 15-and-over girls division, Kelsy Langille completed her meet with a fourth place finish in the 800m freestyle and a sixth in the 200m fly.
On the boys side, Jordan Torok won gold and silver in the 15-and-over division. Torok won gold in the 1500m freestyle and silver in the 200m fly.
He added a fourth in the 400m freestyle, fifth in the 200m freestyle and sixth in the 100m fly.
In the same division, Justin Awrey placed eighth in the 50m breaststroke. David Lavin finished sixth in the 200m fly, seventh in the 100m backstroke and eighth in the 200m backstroke.
The 14-year-old boys division saw Grayson Bukkos swimming his way to three fifth place finishes in the 50, 200 and 1500m freestyles. Bukkos finished seventh in the 50m backstroke and 100m fly, and eighth in the 100m freestyle.
In the same division, Carson Olafson earned double bronze in the 100m backstroke and 400m freestyle, finishing fourth in the 100 and 1500m freestyles. Olafson earned fifth place finishes in the 50 and 200m flies and 50m backstroke.Ben Holwerda placed eighth in the 50m fly while Carson Loeppky finished seventh in the 50m fly and eighth in the 50m breaststroke.
