Guardians win Winter Breakout tournament

Guardians put out Fire in tournament final during Penticton Minor Hockey Association peewee recreation tournament

Two Penticton teams faced off for the Penticton Peewee Recreational Winter Breakout tournament Sunday.

The Guardians topped the Fire 6-2 in what was a tight checking game. The Guardians led 3-2 heading into the third period and they added to their lead with two quick goals and played great defensively. Scoring for the Guardians was most valuable player Carson Drobe with two, Adrian Orioli, Matt Olsen, Ian Heck and Ayden Chura . Scoring for the Fire was Aaron Carley and Devon Potter. Both teams finished the round robin at 3-0. In the semifinal the Guardians defeated the Aldergrove Aces 7-1 and the Fire defeated the Hope Wildcats 5-4 in a great game that ended in a shootout. Isaac Newson and Kieran Simpson scored.
