GutBuster run poses challenge

The third stop in the trail running series was held Saturday at Ladysmith’s Transfer Beach and Holland Creek Trail.

A handful of local runners climbed hills, hustled along trails and bested the GutBuster run.

The third stop in the trail running series was held Saturday at Ladysmith’s Transfer Beach and Holland Creek Trail. Sixty-five participants completed the 15-kilometre long course and 70 ran the 9km short course.

Simon Reeves of Gabriola Island was the top local finisher on the long course, winning his 40-49-year-old division in one hour, 20 minutes, 40 seconds. Caitlin DuBiel was the top local female finisher on the long course.

The final stop on the 2015 series will be held Aug. 8 at Mount Washington, a 6km course up the mountain. For more information about the series, please visit www.gutbustertrailrun.com.
