Hadwin still in the running for PGA Tour card, qualifies for Web.com Finals

Adam Hadwin missed the cut at the final event of the Web.com Tour regular season, but still qualified for the circuit's playoff series.

Adam Hadwin missed the cut at the final event of the Web.com Tour regular season, but nevertheless qualified for the circuit’s four-tournament playoff series.

Hadwin shot 70 and 72 to sit at even par through two rounds at the Cox Classic in Omaha, Neb., but that left him four strokes back of the -4 cut line.

Fortunately for the 25-year-old Abbotsford golfer, it only resulted in a small drop in position on the money list – he slipped from 64th to 66th with $76,182 in total earnings, well inside the top 75, which was the standard for the Web.com Tour Finals.

The top 25 Web.com Tour regular season finishers have already secured PGA Tour cards for next season, while 25 more will be up for grabs in the Finals. The Hotel Fitness Championship, the first of four Finals tourneys, runs this week in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The field will also feature up to 75 PGA Tour players – those who were ranked 126-200 and did not qualify for the FedEx Cup series.

FIRST MISSED CUT FOR TAYLOR

Fellow Abbotsford golfer Nick Taylor suffered his first missed cut of the PGA Tour Canada season, finishing one stroke back of the cut line at the Great Waterway Classic in Morrisburg, Ont.

Taylor’s rounds of 70 and 72 left him at -2, but it was one shot higher than what he needed to play the weekend.

With three events left on the PGA Tour Canada schedule, including this week’s Wildfire Invitational in Peterborough, Ont., Taylor sits seventh on the money list with $26,931 in earnings. The top five earn Web.com Tour cards for next season.
