The Nanaimo Clippers traded two veterans earlier this month.
Jacob Hanlon and Anthony Rinaldi were dealt to Ontario’s Kingston Voyageurs in exchange for 19-year-old centre Matthew Hoover. The 5-foot-11, 180 pounder from Brantford, Ont. has an NCAA Div. 1 scholarship to Canisius College. He scored 10 goals and added 14 assists last season with Kingston.
Hanlon had 12 goals and 21 assists last year and Rinaldi had 22 goals and 16 assists. Both forwards are 20-year-olds and the Clippers are still over the maximum for 20-year-old players.
The Nanaimo Clippers open training camp on Monday (Aug. 24) and will have their first on-ice session the next day.
