Clearwater Bantam Hawks won one and lost one during a playday against 100 Mile House on Sunday, Nov. 13. Both games were very entertaining.

In game number one the Hawks got into penalty trouble in the second and third period. The team from 100 Mile took advantage of it, which made it difficult to mount any type of comeback.

The coach tried pulling the goalie with four minutes left, but yet another penalty for Clearwater ended that tactic.

The 100 Mile players had a very good passing game and had the Hawks chasing the puck, trying to get back into the game. Clearwater showed a great effort but was not able to recover from the penalties.

Game one, which was non-contact, saw Clearwater lose to 100 Mile 5 – 3.

Game number two against 100 Mile was played as a contact game. This time the Clearwater Hawks’ discipline and experience with contact hockey showed through.

The game got off to a very quick start – 100 Mile had three goals and Austin Rauch of the Hawks had three goals (a natural hat trick.) in the first period alone.

The relentless checking from defensemen Mac Arndt and Ryan Haveman and forward Justin Hudema, along with the speed of Cora MacLaren and Austin Rauch got 100 Mile frustrated, worn down and in penalty trouble. Players Lilly McLellan and Adam Borrow continuously drove to the net and were awarded with a goal each.

Clearwater ended taking a well-earned victory with a score 9-5. All the Hawks players put a great effort into the game.

The Clearwater Hawks are playing in a Recreation League in Kamloops, competing with seven teams from the city plus one from Merritt.

Clearwater has six wins and only lost one game in the Kamloops League. With exhibition play included, the Hawks have an impressive 10 wins and two losses record so far this season.
