Heartbreaking end to Bobcats season

Brookswood falls one game short in quest to qualify for B.C. provincial senior boys 3A championships

It was a heartbreaking end to the Brookswood Bobcats basketball season.

Needing a victory to qualify for the B.C. senior boys 3A provincial championships next week, the Bobcats fell short, losing 56-54 to the Charles Best Blue Devils on Friday night.

The ’Cats were competing at the Fraser Valley championships being held at Surrey’s Fleetwood Park Secondary last week.

Brookswood won their opener, 70-63 over Princess Margaret before losing 49-30 to Fleetwood Park — the eventual Valley champions — 49-30 in the semifinals.

That set up a do-or-die game against the Blue Devils.

Brookswood had entered the tournament as an honourable mention in the most recent 3A provincial rankings.

Brookswood’s Michael Pratt was named a second team all-star.
