Ruky Abdulai of the Valley Royals track and field club turned in a solid performance in the women’s heptathlon at the IAAF World Championships in Daegu, Korea.
Abdulai recorded a personal best 6,212 points in the seven-event discipline to place 13th in a field of 28 athletes. Her score was only 56 points behind her Canadian teammate and national heptathlete record holder Jessica Zelinka, who placed ninth.
Abdulai posted personal bests in the shot put (11.72 metres) and the 800m run (2:15.29), and established a seasonal best of 1.80m in the high jump.
