Josh Geerts pitched a shutout and Danny Hollins drove in three runs as the Langley Junior Blaze improved to 14-1 with a 5-0 victory over the Coquitlam Redlegs on May 22 at McLeod Park.
It was the U16 baseball team’s sixth straight win as they stretched their lead to four games over second place in the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League standings.
The middle of the Jr. Blaze batting order did the bulk of the damage as Kevin Sengara, Hollins and Ryan Lipscombe went a combined 4-for-8 with three walks and all five of the team’s RBIs.
Langley struck for two runs in the third, then added another in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
Geerts scattered eight hits over the seven innings, with one strikeout and one walk.
Up next for Langley is a four-game set this weekend in Kelowna against the Okanagan Jr. Athletics.
