Holy Cross reaches final four at provincial tournament

Surrey school two wins away from a B.C. championship

With a second one-sided win in as many days, the Holy Cross Crusaders have advanced to the semifinal round of the B.C. Senior AA girls high school basketball tournament in Kamloops.

The Crusaders whipped the Wellington Wildcats of Nanaimo 56-27 in a quarterfinal contest Thursday night at Thompson Rivers University. Rachel Beauchamp scored 27 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for Holy Cross, with Michelle Bos adding 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Crusaders will play the Vancouver Island champion Lambrick Park Pride of Victoria in this evening’s semifinal at 5 p.m. The winner will play either the Vernon Panthers or Britannia Bruins in tomorrow’s championship game at 7:30 p.m.
