The local horseshoe club held the Quesnel open last Saturday and Sunday.
Players from all over the province, as far as Abbotsford, and even out-of-province players, came to take part.
Albertan Steve Moody took the Men’s ‘A’ class with 5 wins and no losses, followed by Lloyd Osbourne out of Quesnel with Joe Brietkopf rounding out the top three. Men’s ‘B’ Class mirrored these standings.
For the women Helene Boudreau took top honours in the ‘A’ class.
In women’s class ‘B’, Ida Boschman of Prince George, took the top spot, followed by Elaine Stern from Abbotsford,and Helene Boudreau from Quesnel in a tie for second.
In the 30-feet men’s ‘B’ final Elmer Braun, out of Prince George, took the top, a step above Kevin Scallon of Kamloops, in second.
Maurice Stern from Abbotsford took the top in the mixed ‘A’ class, followed by Maurice Carpenter from Prince George.
Ida Boschman faced a playoff for first in the senior women’s category, but came out on top over Helene Boudreau who finished in second. Elaine Stern, from Abbotsford, and Muriel Scallion, from Kamloops, tied for third.
Local Cheyann Newman took the junior girls category, followed by Ameryllis Braun out of Prince George.
In senior men’s 40-feet local Lloyd Osborne won six games which rocketed him to the top. Steve Moody and Lorenzo Ferrara, out of Quesnel, tied for second.
In the senior men’s ‘B’ 30 feet, Maurice and Maurice took the top two place again, with Stern triumphing over Carpenter. Scallon rounded out the top three.
Finally, in senior mixed 55+, the two Maurices came out on top again, though in reverse positions, with Carpenter over Stern, who tied for second with Ida Boschman.
