The 19 registered ringette kids were happy to perform and practice their new skills on Oct. 4 at the Claude Parish Memorial Arena last week. Ringette practice for all ages started back on Sept. 20. Each age groups goes down to the arena twice a week to train, but most importantly, to have fun.

Sometimes you don’t need to be standing on your skates to be a ringette player. Sometimes it’s great to just lie on your back while you try and make snow angels on the ice.

Houston will be hosting the under 18, under 16, and under 14 tournament all day the weekend of Dec. 10 and in February there will be a tournament for the under 12 (petite), under 10 (novice), and under eight (bunnies).

“Teams from Terrace, Quesnel, and Prince George will be coming to compete,” commented Marg Regnerus, Media and Advertising Representative for the Houston Ringette Club.

The club is always looking for and welcoming new players. It is run entirely by parent volunteers, and this year they’ve seen a great mix of both genders interested in playing the sport.
