Bob and Dave are all smiles with their catch, a 90-pound halibut caught off Jordan River last Friday. Herring was the secret weapon although after cleaning the big fish it had a half digested octopus in its gut bag.

How’s fishing?

The Hali show continued last week with nice catches from local anglers. With the nicest weather of the season so far. West for Halibut was where most anglers were heading. Try closer to shore in a 100 feet or less for the bigger ones. Cruised around until you find a bump or a ledge throw the pick out and hang tough something will come along and kick things up a bit. The ebb tides which produces stronger current seems to get things going. Check out the Crab Shack for the up to date Hali and Salmon info and maybe a tip or to on where the locals are catching.

Port Renfrew reports are starting come in and the news is good. Seawind Fishing Charters reported good catches of springs between Owen Point and Rock Pile at the top of the flood with fish up to 20 pounds and good Halibut fishing past Bonilla Point. Until next time.

Keep your rod tip up!
