Howse gets all-star nod

A pair of Chilliwack Bruins earned recognition as the Western Hockey League announced its first and second all-star teams, and the list of nominees for year-end awards.

Fresh off a 51 goal season, 19-year-old Ryan Howse was named to the second all-star team, sliding in alongside Kamloops Blazer Brendan Ranford and Tri-City American Brendan Shinnimin. The first team all-star forwards were Brendan Gallagher (Vancouver), Tyler Johnson (Spokane) and Ryan Johansen (Portland).

All-star defencemen were Tyson Barrie (Kelowna) and Jared Cowen (Spokane) on the first team, and Brenden Kichton (Spokane) and Ryan Murray (Everett) on the second team.

All-star goaltenders were James Reid (Spokane) on the first team and Calvin Pickard (Seattle) on the second team.

Chilliwack Bruins defenceman Jeff Einhorn was the only local player nominated for a major award, earning the Western conferrence for the Doug Wickenheiser trophy as humanitarian of the year.
