Hughes hits Osoyoos

Canadian Olympian Clara Hughes rides into Okanagan Valley for Bell Let's Talk

Six-time Canadian Olympic medalist Clara Hughes will be in Osoyoos May 22-23 for her journey to a stigma-free Canada.

Hughes began her journey in Victoria May 15 and will finish it in Cranbrook May 28 as she brings the Big Ride for Bell Let’s Talk to communities in B.C. Each day of Clara’s Big Ride includes presentations at schools and other community events organized by local community champions.  In Osoyoos, there will be a mental health awareness forum on May 22 at the Sonora Community Centre on 8505 68th Ave. from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

“We’re so grateful for the leadership and hard work of our Community Champions in British Columbia and across the country. They are key to growing the mental health conversation and helping to make all our communities stigma free,” said Mary Deacon, chair of Bell Let’s Talk in a press release. “With the support of these great local partners, Clara’s Big Ride is growing awareness, acceptance and action at the grassroots level right across Canada.”

Hughes’ Big Ride will cover 12,000 kilometres through every province and territory before concluding in Ottawa on Canada Day. Everyone can participate in the ride through community events and social media.
