Penticton teams win two of three games during Initiation Fun Day

Two Penticton teams won two of three games during last weekend’s Initiation Fun Day.

Penticton 2 opened with a 4-2 loss against South Okanagan Minor Hockey Association Mini Coyotes. Colton Berisford and Cormick McFadden scored for Penticton. In their next two games, they cruised past the Kelowna Dragons 16-7.

Cormick McFadden and Dexter Materi each potted hat tricks. Their final game that was a decisive 18-1 victory over the Lumby Stars, Delaney Walton, Chris Kilduff and McFadden all netted hat tricks. Elliot Mennell was strong in goal.

The kids had a great time all day and worked really hard,” said coach Jamie Materi.

The Blackhawks opened with a 10-1 win against the Winfield Bruins. Brodie Kenney led the offensive charge with a hat trick, while Will Mohns scored twice and singles potted by  Scott Ball, Aiden Gabriel, Ty Belanger, Everett Seeley and Tanner Sunderman. Jorja Moore earn the win in goal.

Mathis Preston’s hat trick led the way for the Blackhawks defeating the South Okanagan Wolverines, 9-3. Kenney and Mohns scored twice, while Everett Seeley and Heyden Blondin added singles.  Jonah Tonhauser played goal.

In a 7-4 loss to the Mini Coyotes, Kenney scored a pair, while Mohns and Kaiya Forbes added singles. Moore played goal.

“It was a great tournament for our team and the kids had a lot of fun, which is the goal of the fun day,” said coach Rod Kenney.
