The Nanaimo Island Stone Supply Timbermen junior women’s lacrosse team played back-to-back-to-back, and won two out of three.
The squad stomped Ridge Meadows 11-3 Saturday at the Nanaimo Ice Centre, then edged Richmond by a 3-1 score the next day, also at the NIC. On Monday the team travelled to the mainland where it was defeated 5-4 by New Westminster.
In the blowout win, Toni Angell’s four goals led the way and Marissa Jordan added a hat trick and two assists. Amanda Kowatski scored two and Nicole Martinetti and Ashley Lesstrange were the other scorers. Angell had two more goals in the win over Richmond and Maggie Paugh had the other. At Queen’s Park Arena, Charlea Taylor led Nanaimo with two goals and Maddy Krassman and Alex Livesey also tallied.
Next action for the Island Stone Timbermen is Sunday (May 22) when Delta visits the NIC for a 1 p.m. faceoff.
