It’s curling season again

Time to pull out brooms and shoes for great winter fun

The 100 Mile Curling Club is preparing for another exciting season and registration is underway.

Registration will be in the upper lounge of the Curling Club on Wrangler Way at the South Cariboo Rec. Centre on Sept. 26 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Cariboo Regional District Recreation passes will be available at registration.

This year’s leagues include: Mixed– Tuesday evenings; Men’s– Wednesday evenings; Ladies –Thursday evenings; and Juniors – Tuesday afternoons.

For registration information, call Deanna at 250-395-6770 or Joanne at 250-395-2296.

The club also has Wednesday drop-in at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The drop-in fee is $5 per time.

The executive has decided to try something new this year, says club president Joanne Doddridge.

On Monday evenings, the club is starting open public curling.

This will interest you if you’re a new curler and want to learn the game or get some lessons.

If you’re experienced and just want to brush up on your skills or get a little extra coaching, Monday night is also for you.”

Doddridge adds the open public curling option is great if people just want to play an extra game, or want to try Mixed Doubles.

Families are welcome as are single people or teams. Groups are also welcome. We want to give lots of opportunities to try curling.”

Monday public curling will be a drop-in and only $5 per person, Doddridge says, adding pre-registration is not required.

This is a perfect time to try curling, or to start again.

If you’re new to curling and don’t have equipment, you’ll need to bring a pair of clean indoor running shoes and dress warm and we’ll loan you a broom.”

The club is offering some early season pointers, lessons and coaching for folks to get their curling form back in shape.

The sessions are available Oct. 3-7 and the lessons and coaching are free. Call Jim Mitchell at 250-395-4237 to arrange a time.

For Junior Curling information, call Brenda at 250-791-5537.

There are three bonspiels planned this year:

Mixed Bonspiel, Nov. 18-20

Men’s Bonspiel, Jan. 20-22

Ladies Bonspiel, March 3-5

The club will be hosting two regional Curl BC events:

Men Inter Regional Playdowns, Dec. 9-11

Juvenile Zone 8 Playdowns, Jan. 13-15
