A three-week break from league play did little to help the Langley Junior Blaze.
The U16 baseball team returned to action on July 16 but lost 12-10 in extra innings to the North Delta Junior Blue Jays at McLeod Park.
The loss was the fourth straight for Langley as they fell to 24-8 in the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League, which is good for second place, four games behind the white-hot North Shore Junior Twins. The Twins lead the league with a 30-6 record thanks to an eye-popping 20 straight victories.
Against the Blue Jays, Langley led 6-5 heading into the fifth inning but North Delta scored five runs to take a 10-6 lead. The Blaze battled back with one run in the sixth and then forced extra innings with three runs in the seventh.
But North Delta scored a pair of runs in the top of the eighth and Langley could not answer back.
Kevin Sengara led the Blaze with five RBIs while Dakota Currie drove in a pair of runs. Nick Laflamme, Dominic Baptista and Dayton Wilson each had one RBI.
The Blaze will look to snap their losing skid on July 18 as they visit the Whalley Junior Chiefs.
