Down 3-0 heading into the seventh inning, the Langley Blaze scored three runs to force extra innings and then won the game in the eighth, edging the White Rock Junior Tritons 4-3 on Wednesday night.
The victory improved the Blaze to 26-6, which is good for top spot in the BC Junior Premier Baseball League.
Daniel Martin delivered a two-out single to score a pair of runs to tie the game and Michel Saulter’s single in the eighth scored Terrell Rogers for the winning run.
Justin Lanigan picked up the win, allowing two hits and one run over the final four innings.
Langley has won 15 of their past 16 games.
They begin a crucial three-game series with the Abbotsford Junior Cardinals — who ended their 15-game winning streak last week — tonight (Friday) at McLeod Park and Saturday at Delair Park in a doubleheader. Abbotsford (28-7) is a half-game behind for top spot.
And on Sunday, the Blaze are at the South Surrey Athletic Park to face the Tritons in a doubleheader.
